Do You Wink?

The current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge: Glitter It could not have come at a better time!  They are featuring Wink of Stella products and lately I've been wondering what the difference is between their clear glitter brush tip marker and my old fashioned Sakura clear Gelly Roll pen:)  For those of you on the "Wink Train" I would love to hear your thoughts on whether I need to add this marker to my arsenal!

I dug out a REALLY OLD stamp to create a birthday card for my mom to give to my oldest brother.  I really couldn't allow her to spend $4.99 at the card shop when I knew I could re-create something similar (and better!):

I bought the ship stamp years ago from a local woman who sold wood block stamps out of her house.  I embossed it twice so I could cut out two of the sails to pop them up for some dimension.  I created the "waves" by using the seagull stamp -upside down- from the Lawn Fawn set "Float My Boat".  Sentiment was computer generated and colored in with Stampin' Up so saffron ink.  The halo was die cut from SU so saffron cs using Cricut Create a Critter II cart.  Both the sentiment and halo were glittered up using my trusty Sakura clear Gelly Roll pen.
Other Supplies Used:  Stampin' Up real red and brilliant blue cs, SU brilliant blue, bashful blue and baked brown sugar ink (with a blender pen), SU paper piercing tool, Papertrey ink white cs, Cuttlebug Anchors Aweigh embossing folder, Creative Impressions natural twine

Thanks for taking the time to comment!

Oh, yes! I know your brother will like this card very much, Robin. I do not have the wink of Stella pen(s) and still use my Sakura stardust pens. Love them and they do come two in a package for less than one of the Stellas. I also like the pen nib on the gelly roll pens.

This is WAY (x1000..) better than a card that costs $4.99, Robin! Love your gel pen details! The embossed background is perfect with this design! I am with you...I need to get on that " Wink train" FAST! Wonder if the ride is worth it..? I bet it's just like the bullet train in Japan!

LOL. We all know how much our cards REALLY cost...don't we? Your brother will love this card...great idea to cut out those sails and I love that embossing folder...nothing like a nautical theme for a masculine card!

Fabulous card Robin much better than a shop bought one. I have both the Sakura pen and Wink of Stella and I think the Sakura gives more of a sparkle!

Great design, Robin! Love how you created the waves from a seagull stamp. I have wondered the same thing about the Wink pens. I dusted off my Sakura one not too long ago and it worked perfectly.

Oh for crying out loud! You're a genius, Robin! There should be an award for thinking to use the seagull upside down for waves--never would have thought of that!
