Cards for Maddy!

I just saw this Simon Says Stamp post via Lin's blog regarding the current card drive for Maddy:

It's really heartbreaking when you read about what this courageous young girl and her family have been through.  And I hope that by reading about their story many others will want to create and send cards to Maddy.

I wanted to create a card that might bring a smile to Maddy's face:

I know this little vase full of smiley faced flowers from the Lawn Fawn set "On the Mend" always makes me smile!  After embossing a piece of white cs with a swiss dots embossing folder (and using a Darice easy folder frame to leave an unembossed oval) I embossed the flowers and sentiment from the same set and colored with copics.  Difficult to see in the pic but I also added some Ranger glossy accents to the centers of the flowers.
Other Supplies Used:  Papertrey ink white cs, Teresa Collins Tell Your Story pp, W R Memory Keepers corner rounder

Also, have you checked out the current Lawnscaping Challenge???  This time around it's all about coloring:

I am sooooooo glad I saw Lin's post about this card drive (Thanks Lin!).  Some recent comments from a few acquaintances about how I choose to spend my free time caused me to question the value of my cardmaking.  Creating this card for Maddy was a gentle reminder of why I started making cards in the first place.  Making and sending a card to someone to let he/she know you care is a powerful thing!

Happy week everyone and thanks for listening:)

" Some recent comments from a few acquaintances about how I choose to spend my free time caused me to question the value of my cardmaking." I have gotten that so much over the years, Robin, mostly for writing or blogging or even reading books. ("How can you possibly have time to read?" said in such a dismissive way.) You are a wonderfully creative woman! Don't even let them get to you for a second!
*Oh, and text me sometime. I need to tell you something!

Robin, thank you. We never know how sending something as simple as a card can touch a person's life. This one is just so cute, I'm sure that Maddy will love it!
You're using one of your gifts to bring joy and caring to someone else, that is no small thing! Don't let those acquaintances (the turkeys) get you down!

A dear friend once told me "We all have time to do the things we REALLY WANT to do." That has always stuck with me. It isn't a matter of 'free' time, it is a matter of 'making' the time. CREATIVITY is not something to be put on a back shelf. Nurture it, and be proud of yourself 8-)!

Robin, this would warm any heart. So dear, and thanks to Lin for sharing the opportunity.

And don't listen to that negative talk! I sometimes question myself about my crafts, but my husband reminds me how I share my love by sharing what I make. It also keeps me sane, which makes him happy!

Robin, those flowers will definitely bring a smile to Maddy's face for sure. As for those "acquaintances", ignore them, they haven't a clue about what "adding value" actually means!
