What's New?

Happy Friday Everyone!

This week's cue word for the CASology blog's challenge is:

For my card I decided to try a technique I learned about ages ago but have never put into practice called the "Spritz & Flick" technique:

After die cutting a heart from cardstock I vertically blended Ranger tattered rose, spun sugar, worn lipstick and barn door distress inks across it.  Then I misted a mix of perfect pearls and water into my hand and flicked drops of water onto the heart.  Love the cool bleached effect!

I didn't want to waste the negative space from my heart die cut so I cut it to size and adhered it to my card front with foam tape.  After adhering the inked heart into place I added the fun Basic Grey scrabble chipboard letters (that I just scored on sale at JoAnn's!).  I think this will make a great Valentine!

Supplies Used:  Papertrey ink rustic white cs, Cricut George & Basic Shapes cart, Creative Impressions twine

One of the things I struggle with when making CAS cards is knowing when to stop:)  After completing the steps above I still felt like my card was "missing something" so I added the twine.  Would love to know your thoughts!  Do you think I should have left the twine off or do you think it adds something needed to the design????

Thanks for stopping by and for taking the time to comment!

This couldn't be sweeter, Robin! I adore hearts and this one has mine, for sure. This technique sounds messy, but worth sooo it. Will give it a try. Have a great weekend!

How fun! Love the spattered look on your perfectly blended background. This will be a perfect Valentine! As for knowing when to stop, I'm the opposite - I see these wonderful, beautiful cards with so many elements and I wonder. How did they know to use those 4 things, but not the 5th or the 6th? So I generally stop after one or two! Thanks so much for playing along with us at CASology this week, Robin!

Hi Robin! One of the things I admire about you is your versatility as a stamper...I know you are the reigning "Queen of the Scene" card, but you have made a perfectly lovely CAS card today! I think the twine is perfect...adds nice balance. Love the flicking of water technique...I need to try that, this looks so lovely! Thanks for all your kind words of encouragement on my recent assignment...so glad to see you playing along this week at CASology (maybe just the beginning of a new trend for you? I hope!!!) Hugs! Judy

I love those scrabble letters, what a neat embellishment to add to a fabulous heart! You are really doing great at CAS Robin, seriously! I think the twine is perfect where it is, and you know what, YOU will never have to worry about when to stop, your art speaks for itself! Just trust your instincts as you did with this card!
