Lawnscaping Challenge #35: Patterned Paper

I had to giggle when I read the post at the Lawnscaping Challenge blog regarding their current challenge to:

I SO have a problem with hoarding patterned paper!!  I LOVE to buy it and I do.......LOTS of it :)  Then I'll go to make a card with some of it and for whatever reason I'm hesitant to actually cut into it.  I often end up with a card that has the COLORS of the paper I was going to use but not any of the patterned paper itself on the card :)   I've gotten to the point where I have to smuggle any new pp into the house past my hubby as he keeps pointing to the unused piles in my craft room!

For my challenge card I used some super cute pp called Domestic Goddess from last year's Stampin' Up catalog:

Right now I'm limited to the one Lawn Fawn set I own - On the Mend - so I had to improvise (My Stampin' Sis and I are making the hour long trek to an independent stamping store on Saturday that I know carries Lawn Fawn -yay!)  The plaid pp reminded me of a tablecloth pattern so I folded a piece over the woodgrain stamped "table", added some faux stitching with a white gel pen and cut tiny fringe on the edges.  I paper pieced the soup bowl and covered the yellow "soup" with glossy accents to make it look more like liquid.  Sentiment was computer generated.
Other Materials Used: Stampin' Up cs, Michael's black pearls, Nesties, Hero Arts S5208 Designer Woodgrain

I'd like to thank everyone for their photography suggestions left on my last post!  When I compared my actual card to the photo of it I realized Anita was right when she said something seemed a little "off" and she suggested I keep trying with the light tent.  Sooooo, I pulled out my instructions and studied how they had set up the utility lamps - turns out they should be angled so the light shines from outside through the sides not right into the tent!  Duh!  What a difference!!!  After I downloaded the photo onto my computer I also used Lin's suggestion and brightened it up even more with photo editing - the sheet in the background actually looks white now!  LOL!  Who knew we'd all turn into such excellent photographers too when we got into cardmaking??!!

Have a great weekend everyone!

This is adorable! You've added your wonderful "Robin touches" that make this card so special! Good for you using some patterned paper!

I totally understand about sneaking products in past the hubby, only I do it with more than just paper! He's going to wonder soon why it looks like I need more storage! Hugs and happy weekend! :)

Totally darling card, Robin! Just love the little tablecloth and other details. I'm like you with patterned paper! Just bought 2 more 6x6 pads when I haven't even touched the 4 I bought the other day! So much paper, so little time!

OMG, Robin - this is the absolute cutest ever! You are so creative - love your special touches! Makes me smile big. Love every detail here- brilliant!!!! These are actually the colors of my kitchen! I am the same with paper, but I have been donating that which I haven't used in a couple of years. Takes up so much space! Hugs!

You are amazing! I actually thought the tablecloth was a piece of fabric when I first saw your card. This is just adorable! I have the same ailment--buy lots of beautiful paper & seldom use it.

I, too, have my lamps shining right into the light tent. Maybe I'll swirl them around if possible and see what happens!

Thank you so much for playing with us at Lawnscaping! This is fantastic!
